1.3.2.4 Margaret Agnes Kesler Hamilton (b: 1803 Botetourt County, Va. – d: 31 May 1861 Botetourt County, Va.)

Margaret Agnes was the fourth child and second daughter of John (1772-1850) and Nancy Waskey Kesler (1779-1852) and granddaughter of Andreas Keslar (Kesler or Kessler). She was born in 1803 in Botetourt County, Virginia. While her older sister and brothers were born in Jefferson, Maryland, she was the first child born in Botetourt County, Virginia. She spent the rest of her life there.

Margaret married John William Hamilton (b: 24 Jan 1809-d: 14 Aug 1876 Champaign, Oh) on 14 October 1828.

Margaret and John had six children:

Four of their sons served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, and three of the four died in 1864. 1.3.2.4.1 Absalom Dempsey Hamilton was in the Confederate Army and died on 5 October 1864. John Hamilton was also in the Confederate Army and died on Christmas Day, December 25, 1864.

Hamilton died in 1895, David Sheppard Hamilton remarried to married Virginia Lydia Sloan Kesler Hamilton (b: 9 Nov 1867 Botetourt County, Va.-d: 25 Dec 1963 Roanoke, Va). Virginia was widow of John William Kesler, who was not related to our Kesler family. This can easily create confusion, since her children were all named Kesler. But it provides an interesting twist to the family tree.
