1.3.2.6 Sophia Kessler Byerly (1806-aft 1850)

I have spent hours and hours researching this family line with no luck. There are too many people with similar names, many of whom lived in Botetourt County and likely were cousins of John Landis Byerly.

Here is where we are with this research. Sometimes the last name is spelled as Bierly, but most often, it is Byerly.

1.3.2.6 Sophia was daughter of John and Nancy Waskey Kessler. She was born in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1806. She married John Landis Byerly (b: abt. 1800) on 3 Sep 1827. Sometime between 1840 and 1850 the family moved to Roanoke, Virginia.

They had three sons named Jacob, George, and WIlliam.

All three sons fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. William died during the war on 7 May 1865. The others served and were released from service.
