1.3.5.2 Agnes “Nancy” Keslar Lohr (10 Apr 1805-7 Mar 1874)


Agnes ‘Nancy’ Keslar (10 Apr 1805-7 Mar 1874) married John Robinson Lohr (15 Oct 1804-29 Sep 1891) on 11 Jun 1826. Like her sister Sarah Jane, Nancy had 10 children, most of whom remained in Pennsylvania. Entries for her were located in the 1810 through 1870 US Census. She was born in Donegal and lived there for her entire life, passing in 1874 at the age of 68.

John Robinson Lohr, a farmer, is found in the 1830 through 1880 U.S. Census. He was the first deacon of the Baptist Church of Donegal Borough, which was organized in 1834. He died at the age of 87 and is buried in the Donegal Cemetery.

Children of Nancy Keslar and John Robinson Lohr:

1.3.5.2.1 Mary Lohr (b: 6 Apr 1827-d: 26 Aug 1830 Fayette County, Pa.) died at age 3, one day before her brother Elias. We can imagine the grief felt by the family, losing their two oldest children and worrying about whether third third son and only surviving child, Jacob, only six months old, would survive as well.

1.3.5.2.2 Elias Lohr (b: 16 Sep 1828-d: 27 Aug 1830 Fayette County, Pa.) died a day after his sister, Mary. He was less than two years old.

1.3.5.2.3 Jacob Keslar Lohr (b: 30 Jan 1830-d: 8 Feb 1855 Fayette County, Pa.) purchased 3 acres of land in April 1849 in Saltlick Township. He was married to Susan Lohr before dying young, at age 25. Susan also died young, passing in 1861.

1.3.5.2.4 Peter Lohr (b:10 Dec 1831-d: 28 Apr 1833 Fayette County, Pa.) died in infancy, continuing the family’s string of misfortune and sorrow.

1.3.5.2.5 Agnes L. Lohr Bowman (b: 12 Dec 1833-d: 26 Oct 1917 Fayette County, Pa.) married Daniel Miller Bowman (20 Nov 1831-10 Dec 1884 Donegal) on 9 Feb 1854. She was the first of the Lohr children to live a full life. She and Daniel had eight children:

1.3.5.2.7 Milton Sutton Lohr (b: 1 Nov 1838-d: 10 Nov 1914 Westmoreland County, Pa.) married Mary Ann Hays (17 Sep 1840-19 Jul 1880) and they had eight children before Mary’s death at age 39 in childbirth with their last child. Milton enlisted in Company B, Pennsylvania 142nd Infantry Regiment on 26 Aug 1862. He was promoted to full corporal on 01 Nov 1863 and he mustered out on 29 May 1865 at Washington, DC. The family started and expanded in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, like most of the western Pennsylvania Kessler/Kesler/Keslar family members, but migrated to Greely, Colorado between 1880 and 1900.
