1.3.7.1 John Slater Kesler (1813-1889)

1.3.7.1 John Slater Kesler (b: 16 Aug 1813 Pennsylvania- d: 20 Jun 1889 Apple Creek, Wayne, Ohio), the oldest son of William Kesler (Keslar), married Mary Spear (12 Sep 1808-19 Dec 1879) on 24 Apr 1834. John and Mary left Pennsylvania for Wayne County, Ohio, and were one of the earliest pioneer families of that county, entering a tract of timberland – which they cleared and improved. John and Mary lived in their wagon when they first came to the county until they could build a cabin. They spent his last years in Wayne County where John was recognized as an honored citizen.

They had six children:

  • 1.3.7.1.2 Jacob S. Keslar (b: 10 Dec 1841 PA-d: 12 Nov 1920 Wayne, Ohio) married Mary Viola Bowman Keslar (b: 29 Mar 1846-d: 3 Jul 1931 Ohio). They had six children:

After Lucinda passed in 1885, James married Elizabeth Boner Keslar (b: May 1848-d: 15 Sep 1922 Wayne County, Oh) on 22 Sep 1887. They had a daughter, Effie.
    • 1.3.7.1.3.1 William Vernon Keslar (son b: May 1880-d: 23 Jun 1946 Holmes County, Ohio) married: Anna Gertrude Leckrom Keslar (b: 21 May 1882-d: 19 Feb 1959 Wayne, Ohio). They had two children:
