1.3.2.3 Christopher Lee Kesler (b: 28 Aug 1802 Frederick, Md-d: 13 Feb 1869 Botetourt, Va.)

Christopher Lee Kesler (28 Aug 1802-13 Feb 1869) was the third child and second son of John (1772-1850) and Nancy Waskey Kesler (1779-1852) and grandson of Andreas Keslar (Kesler or Kessler). He was born in 1802 in Jefferson, Frederick County Maryland. His early years coincided with the period where the United States had acclimated to governance under the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

He was only two-and-a-half years old in 1805 when his family relocated to Botetourt County, Virginia, and he spent the rest of his life there. 

His brother, Samuel lived with his parents until age 26, when he married Nancy Beane (b: 1806-d: 12 Jun 1887 Botetourt County, Va) on 22 Apr 1822 in Botetourt County, Virginia. They had four children: Dianna (1823-1891), Margaret (1826-1865), Mary T. (1826-aft. 1880, and John Daniel ‘J.D.’ (1828-1897).

Christopher lived with his family until age 22, when he married Sarah Greenwood Butt (b: 28 Dec 1807-d: 25 Apr 1852 Botetourt County, Va) on 14 Oct 1824. Christopher and Sarah had five children:

At one point it looks like someone thought that Elizabeth’s maiden name was Hamilton and that she was one of Christopher’s wives. But I believe this was Christopher’s daughter and that she was living with her brother Archibald in 1870. I cannot locate her in other census data. Will circle back again when I have more time.
