Mrozek and Kolodziejski Info for Skylar’s Project

Mrozek Ancestors

–Skylar’s great-grandfather was Joseph Walter Mrozek (3 Jan 1927-29 Jun 2016). He was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He worked for Westinghouse Electric Corporation as a draftsman, eventually retiring from there.

–Her great-great-grandfather was Joseph Paul Mrozek (13 Sep 1903-8 Jun 1983), also born in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a sales manager for a Baltimore towing company. He was married to Angela ‘Elsie’ C. Polanowski Mrozek (31 Jul 1906-22 Mar 1973).

–Her great-great-great-grandfather was Parvel (Paul) Mrozek (25 Jan 1876-1942). Paul was born in Piatnica, Poland, NE of Warsaw, near Lomza. Paul was married to Helena Zielichowski Mrozek (1876-3 Dec 1936) who grew up in Rudki, about 30 miles south of Warzaw. They emigrated from Poland to the U.S. on 14 Apr 1900 and lived in East Baltimore (Ann Street). Paul worked in an East Baltimore foundry.

They arrived at the Immigration Pier in Locust Point, likely departing from Bremerhaven, which was the port of choice for most Polish families emigrating to America.

You might note that in some places it says the Mrozeks and Kolodziejskis were from Russia, but that is not true. At the time they came, they lived in Russian occupied Poland and it was a crime to say you were from Poland.

See the information below about the situation in Poland in the late 1800s to better understand why they were required to list their home country as Russia instead of Poland.

Kolodziejski Ancestors

–Skylar’s great-grandmother was Rose Mary Kolodziejski Mrozek (22 Dec 1932-13 Nov 2019). She was born in the Wagner’s Point neighborhood of Baltimore City.

–Her great-great-grandfather was Adam Barnabas Kolodziejski (1 Nov 1902-20 Dec 1997), born in Baltimore, Maryland. He was married to Helen Mary Ziobron ‘Zebron’ Kolodziejski (17 Aug 1903-31 Aug 1983), also born in Baltimore, Maryland. Adam worked as a general laborer in the oil refineries located in Wagner’s Point, Baltimore, Maryland.

–Her great-great-great-grandfather was Frank Kolodziejski (9 Mar 1875-22 Feb 1957), born in Bzianka, Podkarpackie, Poland. He was married to Josephine ‘Josepha’ Budna Kolodziejski (19 Mar 1878-22 Mar 1943), also born in Poland. Frank and Josepha immigrated from Poland, arriving in Locust Point in 1892. Frank worked in a foundry in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Curtis Bay.
